Gay Yeshiva Boys

Co-Written by:

My Aunt (CC)

          and Me (AR)

Gray and young, shivering, bothered, believing in the providence of hashem—

I don't have a talent for writing but if I were to write a poem,

Roaming around the study hall, wrapped in tefillin and early morning sweat—

It would be of sadness, then gladness,

And sadness and gladness and sadness and gladness and sadness…

Because my poem would end with the gay yeshiva boys’ acceptance of who they are,

Not who they think they are but who they cannot think they are—

Which brings peace of mind, et al,

Forever exiled from their family and their past.
